vBound is a desktop electronic bound book application. It has the simplest export process of any bound book system — just two steps.
What Orchid Does With This File
Orchid eBound imports your open firearms from vBound. The export is the simplest of any system — a single menu option.
Before You Start
- vBound is a desktop application — run the export from the PC where it's installed.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Open vBound.
- Click the Administration tab.
- Click Export Book.
- Choose a folder location for the export (or accept the default) and click OK.
- Send the exported file to Orchid.
Expected File Format
The export file format is determined by vBound's export settings.
Expected Columns
- Manufacturer / Importer
- Model
- Serial Number
- Type
- Caliber / Gauge
- Acquisition Date
- Acquired From (Name, Address, FFL)
- Disposition Date
- Disposed To
- Notes
Watch Out For
- This is the simplest bound book export — just Administration > Export Book > OK.
- Desktop application — make sure you're on the PC where vBound is installed.
- If the exported file is CSV, do NOT open it in Excel before sending to Orchid.
CSV Warning: Do NOT open exported CSV files in Excel and save them. Excel silently strips leading zeros from serial numbers and FFL numbers, converts long numbers to scientific notation, and reformats dates. If you need to inspect the file, open it in a plain text editor or use Data > From Text/CSV in Excel with columns set to Text.
